Iran’s air defence forces launched a large-scale military exercise from Semnan on Wednesday.

The exercise, codenamed ‘Modafean Aseman Velayat’ [The Defenders of Velayat Skies], was a joint exercise organised by the Iranian army and the IRGC [Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps].

After Brigadier General Ghader Rahimzadeh gave the command to start the drills, multiple missiles, radars and other combat equipment could be seen being tested.

The drill was aimed at boosting the combat preparedness of Iranian troops and simulate a real-war condition.

Iran’s air defence force holds annual war games in order to enhance capabilities to defend the country’s airspace.
